Former Studio 10 co-host Jessica Rowe met with Sunrise boss Michael Pell this week.
The former TV presenter was spotted meeting with the Channel 7 executive producer three years after she abruptly quit the Channel 10 morning show for family reasons.
It’s unclear what prompted the private get-together, however, insiders say that she’s not planning a return to TV full-time.
One source told Confidential, “She’s not joining Channel 7. They are friends.”
In March, Rowe told Confidential that she misses some elements of breakfast TV.
She left Studio 10 in 2018 after five years.
“What I do miss is having an audience to play up to,” she said.
“Nowadays I find myself doing a song and dance routine for my daughters. Not that successfully, as only my youngest daughter Giselle finds it remotely funny.
“(Husband) Pete (Overton) tells me to stop carrying on and my teenage daughter Allegra rolls her eyes and says I’m ‘the world’s most embarrassing mum’. That only encourages me to keep on mucking around.”
Rowe, 50, is married to Channel 9 news presenter Peter Overton and the couple have two daughters Allegra, 13, and Giselle, 11.
Pell previously told Confidential that he’s pleased with Sunrise’s current line-up, after Natalie Barr replaced his close friend Samantha Armytage earlier this year.
She currently hosts alongside veteran presenter David Koch.
“She’s been terrific. Nat is Australia’s favourite sweetheart and now in this new role she’s able to share even more of herself and do more of the big interviews. I think she’s doing a wonderful job, along with the rest of the team,” he said.
Sunrise has won every single ratings week so far this year, beating rival Channel 9’s Today show and ABC’s News Breakfast and Pell said this is down to audience engagement.
“There are a few reasons but I think crucially it’s because we are always listening to the audience, our loyal viewers,” he said.
“What they want, we give them. I think that’s key. Giving your audience priority is really important and we strive to do that every day.”
Former Sky News producer Pell, 38, joined Sunrise in 2010, after replacing Adam Boland, who was the director of morning television at the time.
Behind the scenes feud rumours previously gained steam when Koch revealed on the Kyle and Jackie O show that he and Barr were not invited to Armytage’s farewell lunch held at upscale restaurant Catalina in Rose Bay.
Armytage also recently unfollowed her former colleagues on Instagram.
However, when previously asked about whispers that Armytage may have left on bad terms, Pell denied the rumours.
“All rumour, no drama. All the drama is on the show, to do with Canberra,” he said.
