Former reality TV star Davina Rankin joins celebs ditching breast implants

Former reality TV star, Davina Rankin, joins a long list of celebrities who have had their breast implants removed as she described years of ‘pain, discomfort and weird symptoms’.

Former reality TV star Davina Rankin will undergo breast explant surgery this week after years of pain and discomfort.

The 30-year-old got breast implants 12 years ago after admittedly falling victim to unrealistic beauty standards, which eventually began affecting her health.

“ … When I got them I had NO idea who I was or what I could be capable of all on my own… In my head ‘bigger boobs’ or ‘longer hair’ or a ‘smaller waist’ was basically my idea of success. Sad I know,” she wrote on Instagram.

“So many years of pain, discomfort and weird symptoms … I’m excited to be able to sleep on my stomach again, breathe deeply and literally feel the weight off my chest.”

The influencer will document the procedure with her 350,000 Instagram followers.

Her move follows similar decisions from other celebrities, including model Rachael Finch and Chrissy Teigen, to reverse the once-popular cosmetic procedure.

Finch, 33, who had breast enhancement surgery at 17, went from a C-cup with implants to an A-cup without them after a painful rupture.

“Two years ago I woke up and noticed one was a little different to the other,” she wrote. “I immediately went in for an MRI which the doctor told me I had a capsular contracture in my left breast — meaning the skin the body creates around the implant to protect itself has tightened.”

Last year, US model Teigen, announced her decision to have her implants removed.

The 35-year-old wife of singer, John Legend, got implants when she was 20 to boost her modelling career.

“I’m getting my boobs out,” she wrote.

“They’ve been great to me for many years but I’m just over it. I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort! No biggie! So don’t worry about me! All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat. Which is all a tit is in the first place. A dumb, miraculous bag of fat.”
