Casting is reportedly underway for the next season of Married at First Sight and former bride Natasha Spencer has a warning for future contestants.

Spencer, 28, appeared on the Channel 9 dating show last year and claims the experience almost ruined her life and left her battling mental health issues.

“MAFS showed me everything that I didn’t want in life,” she told Confidential.

“There needs to be some consideration for people’s mental health and Channel 9 needs to take complaints seriously.

“I’m not surprised that it’s being investigated… I really hope this time they take a serious look at it.”

The Australian Communications and Media Authority recently confirmed that it’s investigating 67 complaints from viewers of the latest season ranging from concerns about mental health and “abusive interchanges” to the welfare of contestants.

It comes amid rumours that new expert and sexologist, Alessandra Rampolla, has quit the show after just one season however a Channel 9 spokeswoman told Confidential “there is no truth to the claims”.

Last year, Spencer was rushed to The Royal North Shore Hospital via an ambulance following self-harm concerns.

More than one year later, she still struggles with anxiety stemming from vicious trolling but she’s in a much better place and has quit drinking alcohol for mental health reasons.

“I’ve been sober for three months for mental health reasons,” the Sans Drinks ambassador said.

“I still have episodes of anxiety but I’m doing pretty damn good. I’m working with a psychologist and I probably will for the rest of my life.”

Spencer said she’s thrilled to be preparing for her real wedding after her TV “marriage” to Mikey Pembroke fell apart.

She’s set to tie the knot with Sydney businessman, Gary Green, in Byron Bay on March 19.

“Hopefully we’re out of [lockdown] by then,” she laughed.

“I feel for so many brides having their weddings cancelled at the moment.

“We are basically done with everything now and having a wedding planner has helped a fair bit. Gary gave me a really good budget so there’s no expenses spared. It will be with 130 of our closest friends and family.”
