EVEN before she was born, baby Eliza Emily held a very special place in the Molan family.
“Mum named her Eliza at the start when we fell pregnant and my big sister lost a little girl a few years ago and her name was Emily, so we wanted to honour her,” first-time mum and popular sports presenter Erin Molan told The Sunday Telegraph.
“My mum loves the name Eliza and actually wanted to name me and my two sisters Eliza, but dad didn’t want a bar of it,” she said.
“We wanted her name to be special and it’s significant for us.”
Molan and her policeman fiance Sean Ogilvy are soaking up every second with their precious daughter.
“I watch every breath she takes at night,” Molan said.
“There are moments I should be trying to sleep, but I can’t help but listen to her breathe. It is intense, but incredible
“No one tells you how tired you will be. It is bizarre. We are absolutely exhausted but my God it is worth absolutely every second.
“She is beautiful, she is divine. If not getting sleep is your only issue, then how lucky are you as a parent. We are so blessed.”
Molan admits she already worries about Eliza falling in with the wrong crowd as a teenager.
“I am already stressing about when she is a teenager and what if she gets in with a bad crowd and gets led astray,” Molan said.
“It is a love I never could have imagined.
“I think about how much I love my parents and Sean and my siblings, and I didn’t think I was capable of loving anything more.
“It hurts physically how much I love and care about her.”
The Footy Show host, who gave birth on the same night as the State of Origin series opener, said she will return to work at the end of the month, as long as everything goes according to plan.
“I will go back towards the end of next month,” the 34-year-old said.
“So similar to (New Zealand Prime Minister) Jacinda Ardern, not that I am comparing my job to running a country.
“But at the six or seven week mark, I will head back. Although if I need more time or if Eliza isn’t settling or isn’t okay without me there, then I will delay it.”
She is already nervous about juggling her work on Nine News, The Footy Show and 2GB while being a mum.
“I am a lot more worried now than I was prior to having her. But my priority will always be her,” she said.
