Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon in Sydney doing non-celebrity things

Chris Hemsworth, his wife Elsa and his Hollywood mate Matt Damon continue to show the world they are the most down-to-Earth celebrities — all spotted in Sydney doing ‘non-celebrity’ things.

They fly budget airlines. They shop at Chemist Warehouse. They pop out for breakfast. Is there any menial, day-to-day task that is beneath megastar couple Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky?

Apparently not, as the couple, currently in Sydney where they’re shooting a film apiece, continued their whirlwind tour of doing normal non-famous things as they strolled through Woollahra on Saturday after grabbing a bite for breakfast and happily chatting with fans.

Earlier in the week Pataky was seen wandering around Sydney Aquarium with twins Tristan and Sasha, 7, and, according to one media report, the 44-year-old Fast And Furious star looked “effortlessly glamorous” while shopping at Chemist Warehouse.

That followed another report that she had recently flown from Sydney to Byron Bay on – quelle horreur – an $87 Jetstar flight, proving that despite their $20 million mega compound high in the Broken Head hinterland the couple have retained their sense of thriftiness.

Perhaps the Hemsworths’ enduring down-to-earthiness can only be matched by their good friend and Byron Bay cohabitant Matt Damon who, despite reports he had recently returned to the US, is still very much a fixture Down Under.

The Good Will Hunting star touched down in Sydney from the Gold Coast early on Saturday (yes, via a commercial flight) and after grabbing his own bags from the airport conveyor belt, soon surfaced in the CBD where he grabbed a bite at the popular Jimmy’s Falafel.

It’s the third time Damon has thrown his dining dollars behind a Merivale restaurant, having dined at Totti’s twice, first Bondi back on April 13 and again last week with Hemsworth.

Not surprisingly Merivale boss Justin Hemmes was quick to capitalise on this encouraging trend and immediately re-posted a snap of Damon and a gathering of starstruck Jimmy’s staff to his Instagram on Saturday.

Publicity you can’t buy.

Damon was later spied by a fan in David Jones who says he and wife Luciana Barroso were browsing the racks of women’s wear on level three of the Elizabeth St store.

“He was being a very dutiful husband and helping Luciana shop for clothes,” the Confidential spy said.
