HOUSE Rules contestant Daniella Winter has opened up about her traumatic experiences with childhood bullies and how plastic surgery turned her life around.
The 38-year-old Gold Coast glamour, who appears on the Channel 7 show alongside husband Aaron, says primary school bullying got so bad it left her depressed.
“I’ve always been genetically very thin and people do come up to me and go, ‘Hey, you’re bulimic’,’’ the dancer said, adding she also got teased for her larger ears and nose.
Winter even had her arm broken by a boy who pushed her to the ground after she tried to stand up to his teasing.
“I was always self-conscious about how I looked and I would come home every night in tears,” she said.
Winter, now a mum-of-two, says at the time she threw herself into dance to escape the torment. However the dance industry was just as judgmental.
“I remember I got told I wouldn’t have a professional dance career if I didn’t do something about my look,” she said.
So at 21 she had a nose job to get rid of “her really big and really long nose” and she says it changed her life.
“It gave me a confidence I never had before. I felt like this strong, independent woman and still to this day, no one can tell me what to do. No one is getting in my way. Go ahead, talk about my look, I don’t care,” she said.
