British girl group All Saints are relieved social media wasn’t a thing at the height of their fame.

“I think we would have made the whole thing crash,” the group’s Nicole Appleton told Confidential. “You would have seen terrible terrible things. We partied harder than you’ll ever imagine.”

The group — Shaznay Lewis, Nicole and Natalie Appleton and Melanie Blatt — are in Australia for a series of shows, playing Sydney’s The Star Event Centre tomorrow night with Craig David.

Natalie, who is married to The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett, was unwell when Confidential caught up with the singers.

“We behaved in the way every 20 something should in their 20s, no matter what job you do,” Lewis said. “You should be living your best life and we definitely did that. Being in a band on top of that, it was the silver lining.”

Together since 1993, a year before the Spice Girls formed, the group never actually performed in Australia before and only ever visited to promote their music.

“We never really got the chance to tour back in the day,” Blatt, 43, said. “We did one tour of the UK.”

Nicole, who was previously in a relationship with Liam Gallagher, said: “I tell people we’ve taken so long because we were walking here and we’ve finally arrived.”

Like the Spice Girls, All Saints were seen as promoting girl power and female empowerment with their global hits like Never Ever, Pure Shores, Lady Marmalade, Bootie Call, Black Coffee and Under the Bridge.

“I am glad that is how people saw us but we never came out with a message,” Blatt explained. “As far as we were concerned, we were a band and that was it.”
