Pilot Jimmy Nicholson has hung up his dating shoes, revealing the identity of the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Sydney marketing manager Holly Kingston, 27, has won out over runner-up Brooke Cleal and 21 other hopefuls on the latest season of Channel 10 reality dating show, The Bachelor.
“That is me done, I am hanging up my boots,” Nicholson told Confidential. “We have talked about marriage extensively. I am trying to bring her down on the kid front, she’s telling me she needs three years and I think I have got her down to two.”
Kingston said: “Kids, marriage, it is definitely all on the cards.”
The finale episode couldn’t have been more romantic, shot in the desert with Uluru as a backdrop.
While Kingston was favourite from early on, the pair have done their best to keep their relationship on the down-low as the show finished filming several months ago.
They have aliases in their mobile phones to ensure that when they called each other, people wouldn’t know their identity.
Nicholson had Kingston in his phone as ‘Mark’ with a kiss emoji. Earlier, he had Kingston in his mobile as Margot because of her likeness to Margot Robbie.
“I’ve got him in my phone as ‘wheezy’ because he snores like a tractor and I don’t think that is going to change any time soon,” Kingston said, Nicholson adding: “I will probably call her Mark for the rest of our lives now.”
Jokes aside, the couple are “very serious” about the relationship and, with Nicholson recently buying a two-bedroom unit in North Bondi for about $1.4 million, they are moving in together in the next month.
“That is a big commitment, living with someone, but it has been a no-brainer the whole time,” Nicholson said. “It is very serious.”
Kingston said she had no issue watching the series play out over recent weeks and seeing Nicholson kiss other contestants.
“He was amazing,” she said. “He would call me in every ad break and say, ‘I love you and it is just you and I’. The biggest thing that I’ve heard past contestants say is that your relationship starts the day that he picked you in the finale and I think that has really been what has been in my head.”
Nicholson and Kingston shared a strong chemistry through the series themselves and were filmed kissing regularly.
They laughed when asked if they had taken their relationship to the next level during filming.
“I bloody wish,” Nicholson said. “We have since.”
Jokingly berating Nicholson for his candid response, Kingston added: “No, we did not take our relationship to the next level. It was physically impossible with minders and producers by your side but I think you definitely get a taste of what the chemistry is like.”
