The Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson has been subjected to vicious trolling online over false claims that he’s been flouting lockdown rules.
Last month, the 32-year-old pilot was pictured with a group of friends at Bondi Beach amid Sydney’s Covid-19 crisis.
Last week, Nicholson was again pictured at the same beach sunbaking with a male friend but he denied any wrongdoing.
“Living in the Eastern suburbs, I’m always out exercising and stuff. You’ve got to live your life in this lockdown thing,” he told the Kyle and Jackie O show on Wednesday.
“I’ve been under a bit of public scrutiny with Covid breaches and stuff like that. [Paparazzi] will take a photo when you’re down jumping in the water, having a swim or exercising with a friend and then I’ve copped some pretty nasty messages from people on Instagram.
“People are just angry at the situation so it’s all part of it, I’ve got thick skin.”
The reality TV personality was also the subject of false rumours claiming he recently hosted two parties at his Bondi pad during lockdown, however a Network 10 spokeswoman told Confidential, “These claims are completely false”.
Channel 10 recently began airing double episodes of Nicholson’s season of The Bachelor amid abysmal ratings.
An insider told Confidential that the network recently changed the show schedule “to get it over with quickly” after it launched to its lowest premiere ratings in history last month with 482,000 metro viewers.
Ratings dropped even lower to 360,000 metro viewers the following week but on Thursday saw a slight improvement with 412,000.
