Bachelor in Paradise star Brooke Blurton says she is not a fake lesbian. The fan-favourite who appeared on Nick Cummins’ season of The Bachelor, has hit back at critics who have questioned both her motives and sexuality.

Bachelor in Paradise star Brooke Blurton says she is not a fake lesbian.

The fan-favourite reality TV contestant, who also appeared on Nick Cummins season of The Bachelor, has hit back at critics who have questioned both her motives and sexuality.

“I have been called a fake lesbian quite often and people say I pick and choose whether I am going to be with men or women depending on the circumstance,” the 24-year-old told The Sunday Telegraph.

“I have genuinely had two girlfriends in my life and I was with both of them for a substantial amount of time and I have also been with men. But I don’t put myself in the bisexual box.”

The Perth-based social worker said the fact she shared the first lesbian kiss in the program’s history with fellow contestant Alex Nation last week has resulted in her sexuality being questioned by fans and followers of the Channel 10 reality show.

“People generalise and expect me to look like a dike or a dude,” she said.

“There’s that stigma around what people think I should look like.

“I knew I was attracted to women from quite a young age. I didn’t have a coming-out party but I have always been very open with my family and friends.”

Burton’s comments come after she quit Bachelor In Paradise last week following a hook-up and breakup with bisexual Nation while involved with two other contestants, Alex Bordyukov and Nathan Favro.

She also competed on season six of The Bachelor and made it to the top three but spectacularly quit the show ahead of the finale episode.

Burton — who has since been branded the “runaway bachie” — said she walked out of paradise because she wasn’t in the right headspace to find love on national television.

Blurton was in a love square with Nathan Favro.

And “American Alex” from the US Bachelorette. Ultimately she left after claiming she wasn’t in the right headspace to look for love.

“Going from The Bachelor and then to Bachelor in Paradise, I probably rushed the process a little bit,” she confessed.

“I knew what I was getting myself into by going into Paradise, and I think part of me was ready, but I was still super sensitive from what happened with Nick.

“Then I couldn’t quite pick which connection I felt stronger to on Bachelor in Paradise so couldn’t commit to just one of them.

“But I would rather be called the runaway bachelorette than be there and not be genuine with how I feel. There are other people there just to promote themselves and brands, at least I am not doing that.”

When asked whether she was temped to put her hand up for a third time at finding love on TV, the Aboriginal mental health first aid instructor said, “No”.

“No more dating shows for a while. Definitely not. No.”
