Bachelor in Paradise: Everything you need to know

BACHELOR star Laurina “dirty street pie” Fleure is about to grace our screens all over again. But this time, she’s three years older and wiser and wants Australia to know she’s serious about finding love — and she’s found it.

Fleure, one of the more mature women in the group at 34, said the show was even more relevant for women her age, particularly after Sophie Monk’s turn as The Bachelorette.

“In our twenties you’ve got more time to waste, you can hang out with a d**khead because he’s hot and obviously not right for you. In your thirties you’re more down to the nitty gritty now, it’s more serious than just lust,”

She said Bachelor In Paradise (BIP) would enable her to heal from two failed relationships, one that lasted a year, the other six months.

“I was hurting over the way I had been treated and sometimes you’re in love with someone and expect a certain humane level of treatment and then someone that you love can hurt you in ways you didn’t expect. That can shake your faith in humanity and in love, and it can make you put your walls up pretty high. Sometimes you don’t realise you’re not open to love because you have all this hurt inside.”

After a couple of “odd reactions” to dates and interactions during the show led Fleure to a realisation.

“The psych gave me some insight that hadn’t crossed my mind, she said you haven’t released your pain and that absolutely blew my mind. I got really uncomfortable when someone put their arm around me, I was struggling to open up because of pain underneath the surface, it was a massive insight. From that experience and insight I was able to heal and fall in love again.”

Meanwhile, Michael Turnbull, whose heart was broken by Sam Frost when she chose her now ex-boyfriend Sasha Mielczarek over him, said we’re about to see a whole new side of him.

“The first time I was a bit reserved and held back a bit but I’m definitely more myself and I do get quite emotional at one point in the show, which is something I never thought would happen, but I definitely dropped my guard on this one, which was interesting for me. “I know the format can work because I developed really strong feelings for Sam Frost. It’s like The Bachelor on steroids, there’s just so much drama and emotion.”
