The caption read: “Honouring our heroes with a golden glow and a moment of gratitude (hands emoji and star emoji)”.

It included the company website and the hashtags #lestweforget #tanning #anzacday #collarium.

The post was almost universally panned with one user linking RSL Australia to add pressure for it to be removed from the site.

When contacted, an employee of the business was surprised to hear of any backlash.

“In what way is it offensive?” he questioned.

“What if that person has a skin condition like psoriasis and their way of remembering is laying down in a tanning bed. If they remove it, the post, that would keep the peace, would it?”

The staff member said he would pass on request for comment to the marketing team.

The post was shared some 20 hours ago as Diggers were marching to remember those lost in wars past.

“How DARE YOU,” @brat.ofbalcombe wrote. “Making a mockery of our brave servicemen & women who lost their lives and fought in wars. This is so unbelievably tone deaf. Take it down & apologise!!!!!!!”

Melanie Kayex suggested the “UV rays have fried your brains”.

“Your caption is revoltingly disrespectful,” she added, while @nayyselwood wrote: “Whoever came up with this has spent to long under the UV lights. Cooked their brain. There is a time and a place and this ain’t it.”
