Beloved Australian singer Celia Pavey – known as Vera Blue, is poised to reveal her brand new album – a track list the former The Voice contestant says is “very different” to what she has shared before.

The 30 year – old festival queen from Forbes has been in an “extremely transitional period”, creating her fourth studio album.

“I’ve been working on a new album, which I’m really excited about,” she told Confidential.

“I’ve moved into a lot of different themes, worked with lots of different producers, creating a new aesthetic, kind of moving into a dark, ethereal, moody, gothic world.

“There’s so many things that are completely different to what I’ve done before. It’s still very electronic and dance, but kind of leaning into really experimenting with my melodies and the way I use my voice.”

Pavey said this period curating the “pretty top secret” album had been “an interesting time”, with space between her live shows and festival performances.

“It can make you go a little bit crazy but I’m trying to enjoy this phase … and tap into who I am as an artist and recreate who Vera Blue is,” she said.

“Vera Blue is an extension of who I am so it allows me to be like more as an artist, and say more and feel brave. I think being brave is something that I’ve been really trying to focus on in the last couple of years of creating.

“An example of artists that I have have been drawn to are artists like Bjork and Madonna, people in that kind of 90s dance era.”

Pavey will be reimagining hits from her catalogue with a host of new and unique instruments and sounds during the residency.

Fans of the Lie to Me singer will get a chance to preview what the album has to offer at Newtown’s Pleasure Club for a week long residency from August 14.

The residency, dubbed Ruby Dreams in partnership with the new Johnnie Walker Black Ruby, boasts free entry for audiences.

“It is a really incredible opportunity to put on a show in an intimate environment and create a show that is very unique,” Pavey said.

“It’s always a nerve wracking thing for artists to do something completely different and not what they’re used to doing. I’m used to playing festivals or headline shows where it’s a very different environment. It is a bit daunting, but it’s equally as exciting.”
