Aussie DJ Tigerlily: ‘I thought I’d be the mum taking my baby everywhere’

Aussie DJ Tigerlily thought she’d be a working mum with her bub side of stage at her gigs.

Those plans went out the door when baby Lando arrived.

“I always thought that I would love to be a mum taking my baby everywhere, on planes travelling and new experiences,” she said of her 16-month-old baby boy.

“But now, being a mum and seeing how happy and healthy he is with his sleep routines, I feel like the least disruptive approach is the best for him. So that is our rule.”

Tigerlily, the stage name of Dara Hayes, is one of our most in demand touring artists here and abroad.

This month alone she’s got gigs from five shows in seven European countries over a week to Ovolo’s Mamaka Bali with a stop in Brisbane and upcoming shows in Canberra and Melbourne.

“I’ve been kind of everywhere,” she said, recording a track to launch Fisher-Price Link Squad toys.

“Performing really is the core element of what DJs do and it is really important for me to be able to continue to do that despite being a mum now.”

“It is a lot slower these days than it used to be from a touring and schedule perspective but we are making it work and we are just taking it month by month.
