All that glitters is Dally M gold for NRLW star Jaime Chapman

NRLW star Jaime Chapman isn’t counting her chickens so to speak ahead of Wednesday’s Dally M Awards but she did admit winning the coveted medal would be the pinnacle of her football career.

NRL experts predict the 2024 Dally M player of the year

NRLW star Jaime Chapman isn’t counting her chickens so to speak ahead of Wednesday’s Dally M Awards.

A top contender for the Dally M honour in the women’s NRLW, the 22-year-old has tipped Gold Coast Titans teammate Lauren Brown or Newcastle Knights player Tamika Upton to take home the coveted medal.

“It would mean so much to me and obviously be really special but I think the Dally M will go to someone else more deserving,” the NSW Origin player from Sutherland said.

“I honestly don’t know how I would react (if I won), it would be the pinnacle of my football career so far. I don’t think that I am up there this year but hopefully in the very near future, I would love to have that opportunity to be a contender for the Dally M.”

Rugby League’s big awards night will again be held at The Winx Stand at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Wednesday night, broadcast on Fox Sports.

Favourites for the Dally M in the NRL include Melbourne Storm halfback Jahrome Hughes, Penrith lock Isaah Yeo, Roosters Captain James Tedesco and Canterbury skipper Stephen Crichton.

While Hughes is currently the front runner, it would not surprise anyone if there is an upset. It happened 12 months ago when Shaun Johnson was pipped at the finish line by a single point after Newcastle superstar Kalyn Ponga stormed home to poll six points in the final round of the season.

While pundits aren’t giving Hughes’ rivals much hope, Roosters stalwart Tedesco is expected to keep the count tight after surging back to form in the backend of the year.

Awards will also be given to the premier player in each position, as well as coach, captain, representative player and most outstanding rookie.

And, unofficially, the “best dressed’’ is also up for grabs.

“(It’s) the one event where you can go all out and really put your effort into your outfit and wear something out-there and a bit sparkly, something you wouldn’t wear any other time,” Chapman said.
