The competition was tight among Sydney’s wealthiest couples to take out Confidential’s top European summer wedding prize.
Confidential breaks down the nuptials in different categories.
MOST EXPENSIVE WEDDING
Rey Vakili and Johnny Ingham’s nuptials are rumoured to have cost at least $2 million.
The businesswoman and the minted chicken-heir held their big day in the Sicilian town of Taormina at the San Domenico Palace, the setting of The White Lotus, where a standard room costs around $3300 a night.
Vakili’s parents footed the bill for the wedding, however the Inghams — valued at $1.17 billion — picked up the bill for the recovery, which was reportedly equally as extravagant. The couple’s celebrated wedding planner, Sugokuii Events, does nothing by halves — and that was evident at this power couple’s “wedding of the year”.
MOST CHIC WEDDING
The best dressed crew attended the Vakili-Ingham wedding. Each day was treated like a fashion parade, with ‘it’ girls including Montarna Pitt, Charlotte Heinrich, Michelle Battersby, Rebecca Harding and Isha Ambani (whose dad Mukesh is the sixth-wealthiest man in the world with $44.3 billion) all in attendance.
MOST IMPRESSIVE DRESS
Despite Tamie Ingham and Tash Oakley both having a background in design, it was Vakili whose dress stole the show.
The former EA for Anna Wintour walked down the aisle in custom Dolce and Gabbana and even had the ateliers come to her to fit the dress.
Insiders say there’s no way the dress cost any less than $35,000.
BIGGEST FAUX PAS
Michael Porter and Billy Mitchell sent out a mood board for their guests to adhere to, and requested guests “leave your children at home”.
The “mood board” featured fashion inspirations from models, iconic celebrity moments and designer campaigns, which including a “La Dolce Vita” dress code for their “Welcome Aperitif” soiree and a “Festival Del Lago” dress code for their “Last Dance” event.
BEST MARRIAGE CELEBRANT
If one of your best friends is a supermodel, why not enlist them as your wedding celebrant?
That’s what Porter and Mitchell did, asking Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm to make their marriage official.
MOST IMPRESSIVE GUEST LIST
Among those who descended on the lavish Musée Rodin ceremony in the French capital for Ingham chicken heiress Tamie and husband Guillaume Brahimi was News Corp co-chairman Lachlan Murdoch and wife Sarah, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, and Nine’s Karl Stefanovic and designer wife Jasmine.
Bond royalty Olivia and Jeremy Bond, racing royalty Kate Waterhouse, and Nova co-host Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli and his wife Lisa were also on the guest list.
MOST FUN GUEST LIST
There was no way the Porter and Mitchell extravaganza was going to be boring, thanks to the well-heeled crowd they invited.
One guest said: “They definitely had the most fun people at their wedding. Everyone was ready to let their hair down.”
Videos posted to social media included Married at At First Sight lovebirds Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli, Ingham chicken heirs Tamie and Johnny and their respective partners Guillaume Brahimi and Rey Vakili, and Monday Swimwear co-founder and Chambers Liquor scion Theo Chambers literally partying in the streets of Lake Como.
BEST LOCATION
While all the weddings were in impressive locations, you can’t go past the exclusive Girafe Paris where Ingham and Brahimi held their welcome drinks.
The gourmet seafood restaurant with views of the Eiffel Tower provided the most perfect location for a little pre-wedding event.
BEST MC
This one goes to Ingham and Brahimi who enlisted Nine’s Karl Stefanovic to be the all important MC.
Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine are understood to have introduced the couple, so with Jasmine as a bridesmaid it was a no-brainer for he got the job of MC.
And by all accounts, the larrikin nailed it.
BEST WELCOME DINNER
Vakili and Ingham took out the top prize once again, with their welcome dinner styled with custom-hand painted, initialled plates each costing $900.
BEST RECOVERY PARTY
Swimsuit queen Tash Oakley and property CEO Theo Chambers’ recovery party was just about as chic as they come.
Held at La Fontelina in Capri, Italy, which is considered one of the most beautiful and exclusive beach clubs in the world, guests, who all happened to be 6 foot tall and impossibly good looking, donned their bikinis and cover-ups for a waterside post-wedding debrief.
With guests including model Devin Brugman and her half-sister Sophia Vantuno, the scene looked like it was right out of a glossy.
