Broadcasting veteran John Laws has been hospitalised after a health scare.
The 85-year-old is battling an infection and needs a procedure after being admitted to hospital last week.
Laws’ personal assistant Jodee Borgo revealed this morning that the radio legend is “in good spirits and coping well.”
“I can’t add more at this stage but he should be fine,” she said.
It comes more than a year after the death of his wife Caroline.
Laws told The Daily Telegraph shortly after her death that life would never be the same without his wife.
“Everybody’s very nice. Everybody worries. But look, it’s just never going to be the same. It’s just not. I’ve attuned myself to that. It’s 70 years since I first met her — and even though we went our separate ways for a time — I loved her all that time. I still love her now. I can’t alter anything, so I must simply learn to survive,” he said.
Radio colleague Ben Fordham wished Laws well on his 2GB breakfast show this morning.
“Get well soon Lawsie, before you know it you’ll be back on your feet, hooning around Sydney and settling down to a Wild Turkey or two” he said.
“Take your time with your recovery, rest up and get well soon.”
Laws has spent almost 70 years behind the microphone with his distinctive voice earning him the nickname “The Golden Tonsils”. After briefly retiring in 2007, he returned to radio with 2SM in 2011 where he continues to broadcast the station’s morning show.
