Not since Taylor Swift was here in February has Melbourne seen so many sparkles and sequins.

This time it was on show for 21-year-old Olivia Rodrigo who made her first trip to Melbourne with boundless energy and enthusiasm.

The shrills at Rod Laver Arena from girls of all ages was a sight — and sound — to behold.

“Welcome to the Guts World Tour,’’ Rodrigo announced.

“Tonight is going to be so much f---ing fun. I want you to jump, I want you to scream and I want you to sing at the top of your lungs.”

And they duly did for two hours.

Rodrigo rocks the two piece sequin set, the biker shorts, the t-shirts, the fishnets and diamontes — it’s a modern girl’s dream.

She constantly thanks the crowd and tells everyone how grateful she is to be here.

All the hits come early, Vampire, Drivers Licence, Traitor, and she notes “did somebody break your heart or something”.

The lyrics are heavy but these girls singing their lungs out about being happy, rejection, finding their purpose and moving on with life, don’t care.

They just want more. It’s easy to see why Rodrigo’s rise has been so quick and impactful.

The vocals are on point, she genuinely loves to entertain, she’s got the look and she’s what girls aspire to be.

In between Logical and Enough for You while sitting on a moon amongst the stars, she ends with a solid combo of Good 4 U and Get Him Back!.

It leaves the ears ringing and everyone wanting more.

Showing her interest in the audience and Australia, she also reveals she tried a Tim Tam.

“This is my first time in Melbourne and I’m f---ing loving it,’’ she said.

“You live in the coolest city ever, I really love this city so much. I’ve been exploring, meeting some of you guys. I tried a Tim Tam for the first time in my life today. 10/10 it gets my approval.

“No matter how far I try to fit in, no matter how many Tim Tams I eat, when I’m in Australia I still can’t help but feel so American.”

Then she bursts into So American.

Rodrigo is doing four shows at Rod Laver Arena but she could easily do two or three at Marvel Stadium. Who knows, the MCG could be next.

Kudos to all the parents and friends who accompanied girls and made their teenage dreams come true.

It’s a movement — and noise — unlike any other.
