Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr has revealed she has been struggling with a “frustrating” health battle.
The 41-year-old mother of four sons told how she suffers from proctitis, a form of irritable bowel syndrome and has been drinking one litre of organic celery juice daily for the last six years to improve her gut health.
“It’s an auto-immune thing and they (doctors) don’t necessarily have the answers to why, which is frustrating,” the former Victoria’s Secret model said of her condition.
Kerr told beauty site Get the Gloss she was diagnosed with the debilitating condition while pregnant with her second son Hart, with husband Evan Spiegel, the billionaire founder of Snapchat, but was now in remission.
Symptoms of IBS include abdominal pain, cramping, diarrhoea, excessive flatulence and bloating of the stomach.
Kerr said she kept a separate drawer in her fridge stocked with celery, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, and tries to encourage her family to drink it as well, but joked that her husband was reluctant.
“I kind of enforce it, but my husband always has his coffee first — he’s like, nothing is gonna take me away from my coffee,” she said.
The NSW-born Kerr shares eldest son Flynn, 13, with former husband Orlando Bloom.
The pair split in 2013 and she went on to marry Spiegel in 2017.
The couple have three sons — Hart, six, Myles, five, and Pierre, seven months.
