Wyatt Flores may not fit the traditional image of a country singer, but it’s his heritage that truly sets him apart.

The Mexican-American artist has made waves worldwide, amassing over 700k TikTok followers and touring internationally, including joining country music legends Jon Pardi and Cody Johnson for CMC Rocks in Queensland.

“There aren’t many Mexican Americans really breaking through in country music, and I used to shy away from that,” Flores told Confidential.

“I remember being told I should change my last name because I’m a Tohono musician, and I almost did. I’m so glad I didn’t, though — keeping Flores has connected me with a whole community of Hispanic fans who are rooting for me.”

Though he doesn’t speak Spanish fluently, Flores has big plans to blend both languages in his music one day. “I’ve got some ideas that I haven’t shared yet,” he said.

“I’m really excited to explore it further. I’d love to create something that switches between Spanish and English — maybe later in my career.”

At 23, Flores, who first picked up the guitar at age 13, is focused on his touring schedule and is currently enjoying every moment of his time in Australia.
