Sparks are guaranteed to fly should outspoken former players turned astute media performers, Daisy Thomas and Kane Cornes, find themselves going head to head on the same footy show at Channel 7.
It is strongly expected that Cornes, the biggest headline maker in AFL media, and Thomas, a commentator and presenter with strong opinions and talent to boot, will be sharing the spotlight on Seven’s new Tuesday night panel show, The Agenda Setters.
Seven is expected to confirm Thomas is joining the show — Cornes was previously announced — at the network’s AFL programming launch in Melbourne on Wednesday.
The pair, to be frank, have history and have butted heads in recent years.
Pairing them up on The Agenda Setters would certainly create headlines, even if their spicy feud is tempered.
In 2023 Cornes implied Thomas was lazy, described him as a part-time footy opinionator and claimed he was copying his player analysis. Thomas last year described Cornes as “all right” before adding that he was “going to put the fact aside that he is a complete f---kwit.”
Behind the scenes it is believed the pair have been in touch to bury any hatchets and are looking forward to working together, considering they are both part of the 7 stable.
However, with both having strong opinions and neither the type to take a backwards step, Tuesday’s Agenda Setters could well emerge as appointment viewing.
Craig Hutchison is also part of the show which is produced by Hutchison’s Rainmaker studios.
The Agenda Setters will also air on Monday with a panel featuring a different line up.
Seven is going full tilt with its revamped AFL entertainment, news and analysis shows this year which will see the network roll out prime time footy programming seven nights a week.
