Costa Rican model’s baby bombshell: ‘Jarrod Scott doesn’t have one baby girl, he has two’

Top Aussie model Jarrod Scott announced the birth of his first child in April, but a former lover says her five-year-old is his daughter – and he ceased contact after she said she was pregnant.

Top Australian model Jarrod Scott is at the centre of a paternity battle, with a former lover seeking recognition of her five-year-old daughter she claims is his firstborn child.

Costa Rican model and talent agency director Natasha Fleming briefly dated then-New York-based Scott in 2017.

Fleming spoke to The Daily Telegraph from Costa Rica, saying she was sharing her story publicly after years of attempts to have Scott, arguably one of Australia’s top male model exports ever, recognise their daughter.

“I waited because I thought that he needed to mature,” Fleming said.

“When we met, he was 27, and I wanted to give him the time to assimilate to everything.

“I thought he would be curious as time went by to want to meet his own daughter.

“I told him I was pregnant in April 2017 and we had a 20-minute phone call.”

In April, Scott, 33, announced the birth of a daughter, Clementine, with his partner, Brioney Prier.

When contacted on Thursday, Scott said he “had a very brief relationship with Natasha in 2017”.

“We were both single at the time,” Scott said in a statement.

“I don’t know whether what she says about her daughter is true. I intend to have a dialogue with Natasha about that, but will do so privately.

“These claims are deeply private, and have the potential to impact on the wellbeing of two young innocent children. For that reason, I do not intend to respond further publicly.”

Fleming claims Scott first contacted her in December 2016 via direct message on Instagram, and that they had a cyber relationship with daily texts and calls until first meeting in January.

“We had been speaking for a month on Instagram and WhatsApp when he said I should come and visit him in New York because we were both working and travelling,” Fleming said.

“He asked me to stop taking birth control pills and said he would take care of me. I continued to take them, but missed a day while flying.

“When I told him I was pregnant, he said he wasn’t prepared for a baby.”

“I told him I would take responsibility,” Fleming continued. “I was pregnant, alone, and watching his single, jetsetting life on Instagram.

“It’s very hard and sad for me because now he has a baby.”

Abortions are illegal in Costa Rica and carry criminal penalties, except in cases where birth would endanger the mother’s life.

Fleming claims she fell pregnant in February 2017 and that she alerted Scott two months later after she flew home to Costa Rica from visiting him for a second time.

The 36-year-old provided transcripts of their text conversations, in which Scott told her to stop taking contraception because it’s “crap for your body” and “more naughty when we do it”.

The Telegraph has cited text messages from Scott to Fleming, many of a sexual nature, and including holiday photos from New York, phone call logs, and social media interactions during that period.

Fleming said Scott did not respond when she informed him she was keeping the baby, nor two years later in 2019.

The Telegraph sighted evidence that Scott had “seen” the messages and not replied.

“Hey Jarrod, it’s been a while since we talked. I never wrote to you [again] because [of] your last message saying that you don’t care [made] me move forward,” Fleming texted Scott in January 2019.

“But I think you should know that your baby is a girl. Her name is Alana and she is 14-months-old. She was born on November 18th, 2017. I gave you enough time, almost two years. Even when you don’t care at all, I feel it’s my obligation to let you know she is here.”

Fleming claims she has repeatedly tried to contact Scott about Alana.

Alana is now approaching her sixth birthday, and Fleming said she has exhausted every method of communicating with Scott.

That includes emails sent to his former publicist in 2017, contact via a lawyer in Costa Rica in 2018, mailed letters to Scott and his mother which she signed for in September 2022, and, finally, a letter from Melbourne-based family lawyers sent this May, seeking child support.

Fleming said she has spent $30,000 on legal fees over the years, but never wanted to take Scott to court.

She says she wants acknowledgment for her child, who has never known a dad, and could also have a baby half-sister.

“He has a daughter to whom he has given nothing in all these years, neither affection nor economic, in total abandonment,” Fleming said.

“I understand that love is not obligatory, and I would love my daughter to have a relationship with her father, even though I believe a man who denies his children is a bad person.

“He is my daughter’s father, she has his DNA and I cannot erase that.

“I cannot expect him to love her, or want to spend time with her, but I can force him to respond to her legal rights.”

Alana speaks Spanish and English, loves to paint, swim, and play with her preschool friends.

“Since she was born I always wanted to give her a warm home where she can feel all the love of a family,” Fleming said.
