Australia’s top male model Jarrod Scott has ruled out a relationship with former Home And Away actor Melissa George.
The pair sparked romance rumours earlier this year when photographed in Paris together with her young children, Raphael and Solal.
“I haven’t had a girlfriend in a long time,” Scott told Confidential. “We do have mutual friends though. I don’t know what happened with that photo that floated around. I am very much single.”
Scott spoke to Confidential as he attended an event for Ferrari in Sydney on Wednesday night.
Usually based between Europe and the US, he’s been spending more time in Australia over recent months working with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef.
He’s keen to raise awareness about climate change and its impact on our reef.
“I have been on the reef a lot this year actually,” he said, referring to his work on Lizard Island in northern Queensland. “I find it much more stimulating and exciting. I get to learn from all of these amazing scientists and go out and dive and really learn doing things hand on. It really puts things into perspective.”
Scott, 30, added that he’d like to meet with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to voice his concerns for the Great Barrier Reef.
“We are going to be the laughing stock if we don’t look after the things that we are best known for, which is the Barrier Reef, our beaches and our coastline, that is our treasures,” he said. “I don’t really have a problem with speaking out … I like to know my facts before I say something because you can look silly especially with such a touchy subject.”
Asked what he’d say to the Prime Minister, he said: “I just think the majority of Australians would want to see the Great Barrier Reef protected a lot more than it is.”
Scott has had a busy few months.
He fronts the new Chanel High Jewellery campaign and is featured in the Harper’s Bazaar US September issue in an editorial for Valentino photographed by Mariano Vivanco.
Outside of modelling and his work on the reef, cars are his big passion, specifically driving race cars.
“Racing is a hobby and a passion,” said Scott, who was officially named a Friend of Ferrari last October. “It is just another way to really voice what I do. I will always try and involve everything I do, especially environmentally, because it engages different platforms and it is just a different audience to get to.”
