Don't miss out on the headlines from Emmy Awards. Followed categories will be added to My News.
And that’s a wrap on this year’s Emmys!
The 73rd annual Emmys first kicked off with the red carpet at the L.A Live complex in California, with the official awards ceremony now all wrapped up on Foxtel.
Ted Lasso and The Crown were the big winners of the night, with both picking up Outstanding Series in their respective categories - Comedy and Drama.
The Netflix royal drama pulled off a historic first, winning every single award in the drama category. There’s only ever been a clean sweep in the comedy and miniseries categories.
The one and only Kate Winslet won the Best Actress, Limited Series Emmy for Mare of Easttown, declaring she was already a winner thanks to her husband, Edward Abel Smith, “who I get to hold hands with for the rest of my life!”.
Elsewhere, a few stars broke the strict “no swearing” policy during their acceptance speeches, with Best Supporting Actor, Comedy winner Brett Goldstein dropping two F-bombs.
“I was very specifically told I was not allowed to swear. This speech is going to be f***ing short,” the Ted Lasso star said. “This is the f***ing icing on the cake. I’m so sorry. Please have me back,” he finished.
Goldstein’s loose language was followed by Mare of Easttown’s Evan Peters, who said “s**t” during his speech for winning Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
American award shows frown upon swearing and is generally bleeped out in the live broadcast, although it is aired uncensored in Australia.
