Anthony Bell proposes to girlfriend Annika Martyn at her 40th birthday

Anthony Bell’s superyacht has turned into the love boat, with the celebrity accountant popping the question to Annika Martyn at her 40th birthday celebration on the harbour.

Finance guru Anthony Bell sought permission from two very important people before he proposed to his girlfriend Annika Martyn.

“I sat down with my two girls and asked if they thought getting married would be a good idea and they said yes,” Bell revealed to The Sunday Telegraph.

“The kids sealed the decision for me,” he said, referring to his two girls Charlize, 12, and Thea, 10.

Annika said the proposal was “beautiful” and topped off a perfect 40th birthday celebration on Bell’s Ghost II superyacht in Sydney Harbour.

Entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, boxer Danny Green and power couple Anthony Minichiello and Terry Biviano were among the guests.

“He’s very traditional, very formal,” Annika said.

“It was the best birthday, best ending, I keep thinking it was a dream to be honest. We had talked about it but I didn’t really know what was happening on the day, it was the most beautiful ending to the night.”

Bell said he took the chance when Annika’s family from across the country were in town.

Bell, the chief executive officer and principal at Bell Partners, has known Annika for many years through mutual friends.

She was formerly married to Australian cricketer Damien Martyn.

The pair crossed paths over the years at birthday parties, then connected about a year ago, when they were both single.

The new relationship is a new chance at happiness for Bell, more than five years after his public split with TV host Kelly Landry.
