Former model and actor Tziporah Malkah is recovering from emergency surgery in hospital, a week after doctors sent her packing, writes Annette Sharp.

Tziporah Malkah is recovering in a Southern Highlands hospital after suffering a burst appendix.

The one-time model and actor confirmed her sorry state and hospital admission on Friday.

Malkah said she spent the best part of a week enduring the severe pain and sickness associated with the burst organ before doctors identified the problem and operated to remove it.

The surgery took place a week after she visited a “bush hospital” in Lightning Ridge and was discharged without diagnosis.

Having failed to order scans that might have helped to identify the issue — which she suspects was the appendix rupturing — she was put on a drip for an hour and released.

Malkah had been on a working trip at the time, conducting reconnaissance for video segments for community education platform Fairgame.com.

“I consulted a doctor in Lightning Ridge 10 days ago. He sent me to hospital but they released me after putting me on the drip. They just checked my heart rate and blood pressure but didn’t do any scans,” she told this column.

“When I got home from the 10-hour drive, I went to see a local (Highlands) doctor who sent me to a radiologist and then to hospital emergency.

“I was told my appendix had ruptured and were gangrenous.”

Malkah had an appendectomy last Tuesday and was still in hospital on Friday, being closely monitored for possible bowel damage. She was also being treated with antibiotics to clean up the “mess” caused by the septic organ.

Further to her recent police complaint regarding the distribution of semi-naked images taken and distributed without her consent by former Spotlight producer Taylor Auerbach, Malkah said the police investigation continues.
