NSW Covid Dine and Discover vouchers extended

The NSW Treasurer has announced a change to the Dine and Discover scheme and people scrambling to use the $25 vouchers.

People scrambling to use their remaining Dine and Discover can breathe a sigh of relief — with the NSW government deciding to extend the scheme by a month.

The four $25 vouchers were due to expire on June 30 but can now be used until July 31, after figures showed patrons were spending on average $41 for each voucher used.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the scheme had helped “fire up” the economy.

“We’re giving people more time to take full advantage of these vouchers, so make sure you sign up and use them before you lose them,” Mr Perrottet said.

So far more than 4.23m people have downloaded the vouchers spending a combined total of more than $357 million.

Digital Minister Victor Dominello said the scheme had supported businesses both in regional and metro NSW.

“With about two in every three adults across NSW having now registered for the vouchers, having such a large portion of the NSW population on board means we can get money back into the community quickly,“ he said.

“More than $105 million has been spent directly in registered business regionally compared to almost $200 million in establishments in Sydney.”

* How to access your Dine & Discover vouchers: All adults over 18 can apply for four vouchers worth $25 each — two Dine and two Discover. The Dine vouchers are for use at any restaurant, cafe, pub or bar that is registered as COVID Safe with Service NSW.
