IN a very special episode of Miranda Live, host Miranda Devine is live from the US as part of PM Malcolm Turnbull’s meet with President Donald Trump. But JMo only had one request — bring back a White House souvenir.
Mr Turnbull has led a delegation of state premiers and prominent business leaders, including Kerry Stokes, to meet with Mr Trump and is expected to talk China and Pacific security.
Devine spoke with Miranda Live stand-in hosts Jonathon Moran and Sharri Markson from the US to detail her assignment and the meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Turnbull.
LISTEN TO THE FULL INTERVIEW:
It’s the first official state meeting of the two leaders and the first real contact since a disastrous phone conversation concerning refugees between the pair leaked out.
But Devine told Miranda Live the pair would probably secure common ground.
“They’re quite similar — both rich, successful people who went into politics late in life,” she said.

She said China was expected to be the big item on the agenda when the two leaders met.
But JMo had one little request.
“I once procured a handkerchief from the Lodge in Canberra, when I was working for AAP,” he said.
Markson: “Procured? Is that another word for stole?”
Moran: “Procured. When they have the press gallery Christmas drinks and John Winston Howard was PM, we went on a little tour — I don’t know if it was an invited tour.
“And I procured a handkerchief with JWH on it.
“Can you please procure something from the White House for me, Miranda?”
Devine agreed to “procure” an item when she gets into the Oval Office this week.
