A Caboolture man killed in a horrific traffic crash has been remembered as a “caring father” and an “amazing human”.
The 35-year-old was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on May 10.
Close friend Tameka Tonks told The Courier-Mail that Damien was “always smiling, always seeing the positives in life”.
“Damien was always the life of the party,” she said.
“He was a loving and caring friend, a father who adored his kids and his partner.
“He was one of the most amazing humans I’ve met – the man that would always put everyone's needs before his own.”
Damien loved the great outdoors enjoying “fishing, riding, camp fires and much more”.
“Damien was always funny, kind and always putting smiles on faces around him. Going to be greatly missed but may he rest in paradise now,” Ms Tonks said.
Damien’s cousin Benjamin Laird has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for his funeral service.
“Damien was a man of many roles: a father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, and most importantly a beautiful human being that his family was truly blessed to have,” Mr Laird said.
“He will be dearly missed by many, in particular his two beautiful children.”
Friends also celebrated Damien’s life on social media.
“Rest In Peace Damien … Another Kind Gentle Energetic Soul Lost So Soon,” another friend wrote.
Another posted “R.i.p Damien we love you”.
Police are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
The 40-year-old male driver of the utility and his 28-year-old male passenger from Warner were not physically injured in the crash.
Forensic Crash Unit officers are asking anyone who may witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage to contact police.
