A woman is being treated for broken ribs after an apparent gang attack on she and her grandson at a takeaway drive-thru on the Fraser Coast.

Two teens have been dealt with by police after an alleged attack on another teenager and his grandmother at the drive thru at Maryborough’s Hungry Jacks restaurant earlier this month.

In a social media video that went viral, the group of male teens can be seen approaching the woman’s red hatchback, which was going through the drive thru at Maryborough’s Hungry Jacks restaurant.

The video shows one of the boys opening the back door of the car and he then appears to attack a person inside.

That was when the grandmother got out of the car and attempted to protect her grandson from the teens, inadvertently becoming a target herself, during the incident on November 11, 2022.

A spokesman from the Queensland Police Service said a 15-year-old boy from Maryborough had been charged with unlawful entry of a motor vehicle for committing an indictable offence, assault occasioning bodily harm, serious assault and wilful damage.

Another 15-year-old boy from Maryborough had also been charged with unlawful entry of a motor vehicle for committing indictable offence and assault occasioning bodily harm, police said.

Both teenagers have been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act, he said.

Investigations into this matter are continuing.
