The victim of a fatal shooting at a home in Brisbane’s inner southwest on Tuesday morning has been identified, as a third person was arrested in relation to the incident overnight.
Timothy Van Vo has been identified as the victim, after he was found dead in the front yard of a house on Cliveden Ave.
Police advised late on Friday that as part of their ongoing investigation into the Corinda shooting that left the 38-year-old dead, a 30-year-old East Brisbane man, Justin Richard Moulds-Steele, was intercepted in a vehicle in the Brisbane area and taken into custody, where he remained overnight.
Bodyword camera footage of police arresting Moulds-Steele has been released (see the video in the media player above) after authorities executed two search warrants at “addresses of interest” where “items of significance” were found.
Moulds-Steele has been charged with one count of murder and his matter was mentioned briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
He did not appear and there was no application for bail.
The case was adjourned to November 7.
Earlier, police on Thursday revealed they had arrested two people – a man and woman both aged 26 – believed to be linked to the shooting, an incident police believe is further linked to a terrifying car fire at Dutton Park on Wednesday night and an alleged clandestine meth lab in a Mackenzie home.
“I certainly indicate that my two priority persons of interest are with us,” said Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham, describing the arrests as a major step forward in the investigation.
“I am confident that any others that were present on that night (will be caught); we will be able to work through to get resolution of that.”
The woman was arrested in the Brisbane CBD within hours of the Corinda incident, while the man was arrested at the Mackenzie home after he was spotted driving in multiple vehicles and followed by police officers.
Investigators say when they followed him to the home where they allegedly found a “sophisticated” clandestine drug lab.
“It would appear that there’s been a cook of methamphetamine which is drying,” Superintendent Massingham said.
“It seems relatively sophisticated. I haven’t seen it myself, but my advice at this stage was it required the residents to be evacuated and obviously specialist officers called in.”
A further three men and a woman were arrested at the home
On the same night, seven cars, including a wanted Audi spotted near the scene of the Corinda shooting on Tuesday, were allegedly torched at a Dutton Park social housing complex in an incident that left residents terrified.
The victim went over to confront them when he was shot at “very close” range in the chest, police allege.
Superintendent Massingham said police would allege the shooting was over a dispute, and confirmed drugs were a line of inquiry.
“At this stage, we know that there were certain plans to meet there and there were certain negotiations taking place with respect to that conflict,” he said.
All those arrested remain in custody and have not been charged.
