A mother whose 10-year-old boy was allegedly followed on his walk from school by a red car is warning parents to be vigilant as it’s revealed another boy of the same age was allegedly approached by an unknown man.
Police are investigating suspicious behaviour after a 10-year-old boy was approached by an unknown man on Ellendale Crescent at Daisy Hill about 8am on Tuesday while the child was taking out the bins outside his home.
On Monday, another 10-year-old boy was allegedly followed by a red car around 3.10pm on Nursery Rd at Holland Park West.
The boy’s mother who asked to be anonymous told The Courier-Mail her son noticed someone was following him when he passed the gym on Nursery Rd.
“Every time he stopped, the car stopped, and then when he noticed it, he jumped on his bike and rode home as fast as he could,” she said.
“He’s just really, really shaken up at the moment.
“It’s a nerve wracking thing, but you just got to teach your kids to be more vigilant. If you notice something suspicious, or you think a car’s following you, go into the servo or go into the gym and they will call the police.”
She said her son has struggled with the incident since.
“He refused to walk to school this morning,” she said.
“My housemate now just follows them to school in a car just to make sure they’re safe.”
Police said they were aware of the suspicious behaviour that occurred in Holland Park West, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
