The vehicle was then set on fire and quickly spread to the business.

Queensland Fire Department managed to put out the vehicle fire by 3.15am but a section of the shop was damaged in the blaze.

The occupants inside the ute fled the scene in another vehicle and remained on the run.

Owner of Diamond Shisha Bar and Arabella’s Middle Eastern kebab shop, Sami Anasbag, said he only became aware of the incident within the last hour.

“I’ve only had the business for one month, I’d taken over after 15 years,” Mr Anasbag said.

“People kept calling me this morning asking if I was all right.”

West End fire appeal

Mr Anasbag said he was very sad and had no idea who was responsible.

“I have never ever received any threats, this is the first time in my life,” Mr Anasbag said.

“This has cost me everything.”

He said he did not know if the attack was racially motivated.

Mr Anasbag claimed police had not yet told him anything about the damage.

“I came here and it was a surprise.

“There are no (security) cameras. It’s scary.”

A West End resident at the scene who wished to remain anonymous said they saw the business explode into flames.

“At about 2.30am there were crashes in this street at West End, I left my house and saw this vehicle and saw the whole place burst into flames,” he said.

“I turned the corner and saw the damage.”

Police have established a crime scene and investigations are ongoing.

Forensics on the scene of West End fire

Footage of two men setting fire to a ute that was stolen from Shorncliffe on October 29, and fleeing the scene has been released by police.

“Two men and a white ford sedan were seen leaving the scene,” a police spokesman said.

“One was seen wearing a beige hoodie and black track pants while the other was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

“They were last seen leaving the scene in a white Ford sedan shortly after the incident and may be able to assist investigators,” he said.

Police encouraged anyone with information, or additional relevant footage to come forward.

No one was inside the shop at the time and no injuries were reported.
