Loved ones are mourning the tragic loss of Hervey Bay Uber driver Scott Cabrie.

It began with a spate of Facebook posts that merely hinted at the tragedy that was to come.

Missing for several days, concerned friends took to social media to widen the search for Hervey Bay Uber driver Scott Cabrie.

One haunting post reads “come home mate, where are you?”.

Sadly Mr Cabrie would never come home.

His body was found on Sunday. Police say it was near a boat ramp in Howard.

Two teens, an 18-year-old and 17-year-old, have since been arrested and charged with his murder.

Police will allege he was killed when an armed robbery escalated.

Police allege he was put into the boot of his own car, before he managed to escape and made a run for his life.

Police allege the 17-year-old chased him down and stabbed him to death.

His death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the Fraser Coast community.

Memories have been shared of the 47-year-old, who had helped get many people home safely since he started working as an Uber driver in 2019.

“Such heartbreaking news and a senseless loss,” his former partner Sam Bahbah said on social media.

“Goodbye Scott Dot.

“Here is the song that meant so much to you when we met.

“Remember us playing over and over listening to waves crashing in the night outside your house.”

Kevin Hathaway said he was gutted by the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Cabrie.

“I called him the mayor of Hervey Bay,” he said.

“The guy was loved and respected around town.”

Stephen Walker said before Mr Cabrie was getting people from A to B, he had been in the tow truck business.

“Scott worked in with us doing interstate work,” he said.

“Scott often called into our tow depot when in the area and the last time I saw him was at Dom’s at Kings.

“Scott was only one year older than my eldest son.”

Taleisha Houston said it felt like a nightmare.

“You were and will forever be my favourite Uber driver that always got me where I needed,” she wrote.

“Thank you for being there during my hardest times and being so comforting towards me, reminding me that everything will be okay.”
