The woman shot dead on a Caboolture street had faced tragedy, it has been revealed, with the 23-year-old’s former partner fatally stabbed four years ago.

Chloe Jade “CJ” Mason was found unconscious on a grass verge on Railway Parade about 12.10am on Sunday after she was allegedly assaulted and chased by two men who are still on the run.

It can now be revealed she had been in an on and off relationship for years with Kane Alexanderson — an 18-year-old who was brutally stabbed during a violent gang-related Australia Day brawl in 2020.

Kane’s mother, Bianca said she first met Chloe in 2015 when she was 14 and met her son.

“They just loved each other. They were beautiful,” she said.

“They had their on and off relationship until the day he passed.”

Even weeks before Chloe’s passing, Bianca said Kane was still on her mind.

“She wanted to see him again. She definitely missed him,” Bianca said.

In a Facebook post shared two years after his death, Chloe wrote about how much she still missed him.

“Your spirit lives on in my soul Kane, I can’t feel you as much anymore and you don’t give me signs that you’re there so I hope you have finally moved on across the other side,” Chloe wrote.

“But never forget it’s never a goodbye, always I’ll see you soon, love you porridge.”

Bianca said it had been incredibly difficult since she found out about Chloe’s death.

“It’s ridiculous. It’s absolutely shocking,” she said.

“She was absolutely beautiful. She never did the wrong thing in my eyes. She always did everything for a reason or purpose.

“She’s just perfect. Beautiful looks, beautiful soul, beautiful girl. Just life taken too short.”

Bianca said Chloe was like another daughter to her, who used to call her mum after they both spent time in prison together.

“She was always bubbly. If she had any problems, she’d hide them. Chloe was a very up close and personal person, if she had anything to say, she’d say it directly to you, she wouldn’t say it behind your back,” she said.

A neighbour told the Courier Mail he heard the loud ordeal.

“I woke up to hearing a grown adult man, he was screaming and shouting, then there were pops of a gun, they were evenly spaced,” he said.

“He was cursing and just a nasty man and it was all over. It happened so quickly. Then it just went quiet and the police showed up about five mins later.

“It was quite a traumatic thing, I’ve never been around a murder before.”

Detective Inspector David Harbison on Sunday said police believe the woman, from the Caboolture area, had been shot by two men and said they were treating the matter as a homicide.

“Police are investigating reports of up to three to four shots fired in that street,” Det Insp Harbison said.

“Early investigations indicate the deceased was assaulted by two male persons who may have chased her down Railway Parade. During that assault the deceased received a gunshot wound.”

Det Insp Harbison urged the two men who are allegedly involved in the incident to come forward and “do the right thing”, as well as members of the community who know the men.
