Josh Kelly (Mid $617,800)

Building towards full fitness after battling a groin issue for most of last season. Looks set to rejoin the field as a major SuperCoach player in 2019. Must be included.

Zac Williams (Def $407,800)

Dashing defender resumed in the finals last season, scoring 117 and 77 after an extended injury lay-off. Fitter and will be a big improver in 2019. Huge value and should have plenty of admirers.

Lachie Whitfield (Def $542,100)

Earned first All-Australian jumper after move to half-back last year and posted eight SuperCoach tons in final 12 minor round games to finish strong. Having another good preparation and will take some catching as one of the top scorers in defence.

Stephen Coniglio (Mid $588,600)

Career-best year in 2018, recording seven scores of 120 or more to average 108 points per game. Should be prominent again and, while he doesn’t offer the value he did last season, keep him in mind.

Tim Taranto (Mid $481,600)

Added 23 points to his average in his second year and could improve even more with greater midfield responsibility in the absence of Dylan Shiel. A definite threat, despite losing dual-position status.

Toby Greene (Fwd $354,600)

Resuming after just seven starts in 2019. May need the outing but the 25-year-old is among the major SuperCoach players on his day. Plenty of value at the price if he’s right to go.

Callan Ward (Mid $568,000)

History shows Ward is among the better prospects in the field, averaging 105 points or more in four of the past six seasons. Will have some admirers but some others look to have stronger claims.

Shane Mumford (Ruck $320,200)

Coming out of retirement, the 32-year-old should resume after his suspension in Round 3 and presents plenty of SuperCoach value at the price in 2019. Do not dismiss.

Jackson Hately (Mid $148,800)

Tall midfielder should have no trouble making the step up after faring well against the bigger bodies in the SANFL last season. Among the better rookie chances.

Jacob Hopper (Mid $431,100)

Big improver in 2018, adding 17 points to his SuperCoach average and is capable of even more. Better than last start — 47 points in Round 23 — suggests.

Brett Deledio (Mid $463,800)

The 261-game stayer, who posted four SuperCoach tons in his nine games last season, can still feature but he’s hard to trust after just 24 starts in the past three years. Still commands respect.

Heath Shaw (Def $492,400)

Well-credentialed veteran can still figure prominently but he’s also hard to trust now. Others have stronger claims at the price.

Jeremy Cameron (Fwd $441,100)

Star forward can figure but not consistently enough to recommend at the price. Keep in mind for SuperCoach Draft.

Adam Kennedy (Def $428,500)

Late starter in 2018 after injury but impressive on return, averaging 88 points in the final seven minor rounds of the year. Just not quite enough to recommend in 2019.

Aiden Bonar (Fwd/mid $249,700)

Just the four starts in his debut season but showed enough to suggest he gets an early chance in 2019. Wait and see on role but there might be some value here.

Harry Himmelberg (Fwd $384,200)

The 22-year-old, as he did when Jon Patton went down, will need to play a greater role inside 50 in 2019. Four SuperCoach tons in the second-half of 2018 suggest he’s one to keep an eye on.

Nick Haynes (Def $408,100)

Six scores of 97 or more in 2018 suggest the strong-marking defender can feature in SuperCoach but there’s no value at the price this year.

Adam Tomlinson (Mid $385,400)

Can feature on his day as three SuperCoach tons in 2018 proves but just can’t find the consistency to be considered. Look elsewhere.

Phil Davis (Def $422,600)

Added 12 points to his average last year after winning more of the footy in the back half but others have much stronger claims in SuperCoach.

Jon Patton (Fwd/ruck $421,200)

Won’t resume until mid-season but the tall forward, who is recovering from this third knee reconstruction, will be a big inclusion. Ignore in SuperCoach.

Zac Langdon (Fwd $303,100)

Impressive first-up effort in debut season but hard to recommend at the price in 2019.

Aidan Corr (Def $299,600)

Plays a role in defence but doesn’t do enough to feature in SuperCoach. Look elsewhere.

MAKING THEIR CASE

Expect to see draftees Jye Caldwell (Mid $162,300) and Ian Hill (Fwd/Mid $117,300) early in 2019, while Dawson Simpson will lead the ruck in the absence of Mumford for the first two weeks. Third-year defender/midfielder Harry Perryman (Def $314,200) could easily line up in Round 1 as could the experienced Matt De Boer (Fwd $448,500). And defenders Sam Taylor (Def $231,800), Isaac Cumming (Def $173,700) and Jeremy Finlayson (Def $380,400) will have their work cut out behind Whitfield and Williams.
