Last week ... Weekend Best Bet followers of The Advertiser’s Lincoln Moore cashed in again when War Thunder ($4.60) saluted at Morphettville, his third straight BB success. Ray Thomas, fresh from tipping seven from eight at Taree on his return from a freshen-up, hit the target with Extensible ($2.20) at Rosehill, while The Early Oil analyst Michael Manley (Kaniana, $3.70) and Simon Moy (Prince Of Brooklyn, $3.50) also steered punters in the right direction at Caulfield.

RANDWICK
SPORTSMAN PREVIEW: RANDWICK
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 527x1
SUPER TYCOON
Race 1, No. 3
Has been in peerless form this winter and is aiming for a fourth consecutive win. Super Tycoon has unleashed brilliant finishing bursts to win at Randwick over 1400m then twice at Rosehill over 1500m and 1350m. He is creeping up in the weights but his form is irresistible and trainer Greg Mcfarlane has placed him to advantage again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.90
BRAD DAVIDSON (Daily Telegraph). Form: 1212x
DERRYN
Race 4, No. 4
Has to handle the Sydney way of going but this three-year-old colt could not have been more impressive first-up at Caulfield. His late splits were clear best of the day figures and expect him to announce himself as a horse to follow here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.40
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 25228
AKIKO GOLD
Race 3, No. 13
This mare is trained by Richard Clarke and she scored impressively at Nowra on a heavy track on June 28. Last time out, she hit the line gamely to just miss over 1500m in a Rosehill Highway on July 30. Will be right at her top now and the mile suits perfectly. Excellent chance.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.80
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 56324
SHADOW LORD
Race 1, No. 4
Put up a creditable performance in the Listed Winter Stakes, when beaten less than four lengths behind Oxford Poet then was a little off his game at Rosehill last time but gets onto a drying surface and to a distance range where he has met with success.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9.50
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 28382
LIE DIRECT
Race 2, No. 2
Deanne Panya can do no wrong at present and reunites with one of her favourite horses after her Jimmy Cassidy-esque performance on the son of Zabeel, winning a 2400m Bm74 here on August 6. Lie Direct has been holding his form tremendously well. I can’t see how or why Lie Direct wouldn’t be most people’s top pick.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.70
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 64316
SUPER TYCOON
Race 1, No. 3
Has found his groove this campaign and is shooting for fourth straight win. Hard to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.90

MOONEE VALLEY
SPORTSMAN PREVIEW: MOONEE VALLEY
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 15463
GRAND DREAMER
Race 2, No. 9
Right horse, right race. Promising middle-distance type ready to win.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 23211
PILOTE D’ESSAI
Race 7, No. 9
Import who has created a big impression in his two Australian starts. Race wide and finished off strongly when second to the in-form Ulmann at Flemington over 1400m when first-up. Step up to 1500m should be ideal and will be suited by likely fast speed in this.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 26224
PILOTE D’ESSAI
Race 7, No. 9
Above average import who is ready to strike again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 1x241
BLACK TOMAHAWK
Race 1, No. 3
Strong late last start at Flemington and will have drop on his rivals. Looks a solid chance early.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.90
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 22216
HEATHERLY
Race 8, No. 5
Should be ready to fly first-up over 1000m, and her draw is perfect. She can run time but probably needs the rain to stay away.
TAB fixed odds: $3.10
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 23223
FRENCH EMOTION
Race 3, No. 2
Chris Waller-trained mare French Emotion has started favourite in nine of her past 10 starts and should look after punters again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
EAGLE FARM
SPORTSMAN PREVIEW: EAGLE FARM
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: x4302
CAPTAIN’S PICK
Race 1, No. 1
Just pulled a bit early last time and that counted against him in the driving finish. Gets positive change of rider this time and think he will be better for having had the run in this grade. Previous 9L win at home rates to win this comfortably.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 42622
NICCOCO
Race 4, No. 2
Classy four-year-old from Tony McEvoy stable who was very competitive in Melbourne and Sydney last campaign. Hasn’t raced since finishing runner-up at Rosehill in January but tuned up for this with couple of recent trials and has excellent first-up record.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.50
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 27111
TRY FOUR
Race 2, No. 2
Handy stayer who is showing promise as a jumper. Plenty of like about his Moonee Valley win on the flat two starts back before a soft win at his jumping debut. Drawn to box seat here, stays all day and looks a big danger to the in-from Allez Tara.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.20
