Marsden SHS claimed an extraordinary golden point victory over Palm Beach Currumbin SHS this afternoon at Langlands Park.
Marsden No.6 Rixson Andrews kicked a field goal with just seconds remaining in the first half of extra time to hand his side a 23-22 win.
Marsden will now play St Brendan’s in the semi-final next week for the National School Boys Cup.
Marsden came back from the dead after trailing 16-0 late in the first half.
So impressive were PBC in controlling the ruck and then speeding up play when they were in possession victory seemed inevitable for the Gold Coast side.
Notable half back Toby Sexton was being delivered ball a platter as Marsden seemed like dears in torch light.
But Marsden were given a sniff just on half time when hooker No.9 Ezra Teuila scored to reduce the margin to 10 points.
Marsden were close enough at the break to retain self-confidence but they needed to score first.
And it was Marsden who opened the scoring 10 minutes in to the second when centre Tony Francis swooped on a grubber kick threaded through from his half back Konrad Tu’ua with second rower TC Robati enormous for Marsden as the Logan school surged back.
Francis scored his second try to level the scores at 16-16 after Marsden forward Kaleb Evans had put his five-eight Andrews away.

Marsden, playing with more intensity and swiftness in both defence and attack, hit the front when No.9 Teuila dummied and plunged over.
PBC then levelled the scores with 2 minutes to go when power house Jim Torrens scored and Sexton converted.
In the frenetic period of extra time Sexton twice missed field goal attempts before Andrews nailed a left-footer under enormous pressure to seal a truly remarkable win.
