Ipswich Force beat the Gold Coast Waves in the Basketball Qld State Championships grand final

The Ipswich Force narrowly edged out the Gold Coast Waves in the grand final of Basketball Queensland State Under-14 Girls Championships in Mackay on Monday. WATCH ALL TODAY’S REPLAYS.

The Ipswich Force have fought off a valiant Gold Coast Waves side to complete a perfect season and win the Basketball Queensland State Under-14 Girls State Championships in Mackay today.

Ipswich complete an undefeated season with a victory after progressing through this week’s tournament without a hitch.

IPSWICH FORCE DEF GC WAVES 55-52 (Girls Division 1 Grand Final)

A nail-biting victory over the Gold Coast Waves has completed an undefeated season for the Ipswich Force as they were crowned state champions with a three-point win over their southeast Queensland opponents.

Ipswich went into the game as heavy favourites following a dominant BQJBC season and hot form at the tournament in Mackay but the Gold Coast proved why they are the most successful club in the state, fighting until the final buzzer.

But ultimately, the talent from the Force proved too much as Ipswich did just enough to win gold.

Sharni Reisinger had a massive game for Ipswich with 19 points to lead them in scoring while Prasayus Notoa had 15 and Harmony Seumanutafa had 10 for Ipswich.

Ava Usher was impressive for the Gold Coast with 20 points and Rica Chanel Enriques-Paea also contributed to the scoreboard with 15 points.

CAIRNS DOLPHINS DEF MACKAY METEORETTES 52-43 (Girls Division 1 Bronze Medal game)

Andrianna Francis has helped the Cairns Dolphins bounce back from a loss in yesterday’s semi-final to claim a bronze medal following victory over the Mackay Meteorettes in their final game of the tournament.

Francis, who also top scored in the grand final qualifier, had 18 points for the Dolphins as they recorded a nine-point win over the home side in the grand final curtain raiser.

Mackay continued to fight but Cairns were able to run away with the game to claim another medal in this year’s state championships tournaments.

Cheyenne Bobongie top scored for Mackay with 12.

SUNSHINE COAST RIP DEF NORTHSIDE WIZARDS 37 (Girls Division 1 Grand Final)

A championship is on its way to the Sunshine Coast after the University of Sunshine Coast Rip put in a dominant performance to beat the Northside Wizards and take the Division 2 title this morning.

The Rip have been impressive throughout the tournament, including the crossovers, and continued that in today’s championship game as they recorded an 18-point win.

Charlotte Royle and Bella Pease top scored for the champions with 12 points each while Indiana Lawrence also scored 11 for the Rip.

Kelylah Harris-Wihongi led the scoring for the Wizards with 10 points.

TOWNSVILLE LIGHTNING DEF GLADSTONE POWER 64-50 (Girls Division 2 9/10 playoff)

The Townsville Lightning have finished their tournament on a high in the Division 2 competition after a convincing win over the Gladstone Power to seal 10th spot.

Three players scored in double figures to lead the Lightning to victory against their central Queensland opponents, who fought hard but Townsville were too much in the end.

Caydee Kyle top scored for the Lightning with 13 points while Ella Lamey led the scoring for Gladstone with 19.
