WHAT TO LIVESTREAM THIS WEEK: FULL SCHEDULE
With the pool stages over, teams faced do-or-die match-ups at McDonald’s Mackay Stadium, with The Courier-Mail streaming every game on court four during the tournament.
Day three of competition tipped-off with a crossover before the Division 2 semi-finals were played followed by the Division 1 grand final qualifiers to decide who would feature in the showcase game on the final day.
TOWNSVILLE LIGHTNING DEF SD TROJANS WHITE 51-28 (Girls Division 2)
The Townsville Lightning have started the third day of action with a convincing win over the Southern Districts Trojans as the tournament heats up.
Townsville were led by Caydee Kyle (15 points) and Samantha Davila (10 points) as they ran away from their southern Queensland opponents with a 23-point victory.
Regan Holt was the top scorer for the Trojans with 10 points.
NORTHSIDE WIZARDS 1 DEF CAIRNS CORALS 51-40 (Girls Division 2 Semi-Final)
The Northside Wizards will play for a state title on Monday after a hardfought victory over the Cairns Corals in the Division 2 semi-final on Sunday.
Both teams headed into the grand final qualifier in good form after impressive performances in the pool stages and in the quarterfinals, but it was the Wizards who made the big plays at crucial times to record an 11-point victory.
Frances McPherson and Kelylah Harris-Wihongi both top scored for Northside with 11 points while Eve Kusu led the scoring for the Corals, who will play for a bronze medal on Monday, with 15 points.
USC RIP DEF GC BREAKERS 55-36 (Girls Division 2 Semi-Final)
The University of Sunshine Coast Rip’s balanced attack has proven too much for the Gold Coast Breakers as four players scored in double figures to book a spot in Monday’s Division 2 grand final.
Gold Coast fought until the final siren but the Rip were dominant from the opening tip to record a 19-point victory to secure a match-up with the Northside Wizards in the championship game.
Indiana Lawrence top scored with 16 points for the Sunshine Coast with Eden McCosker scoring 14 points as well as Bella Pease and Charlotte Royle adding 10 points each.
Saachi Andrade led the way for the Gold Coast with 15 points.
IPSWICH FORCE VS CAIRNS DOLPHINS (U14 Division 1 Girls)
The Ipswich Force are just one win away from a perfect season after a convincing win over the Cairns Dolphins helped them book a spot in Monday’s all important championship game.
Ipswich, who are undefeated at the state championships and went without a loss in the BQJBC competition, were far too good for the Dolphins as Isabella Mirkovic led the way with 21 points.
Mirkovic was also supported by Prasayus Notoa (14 points), Alexis Beasley (12 points) and Tereise Reupena (10 points).
Taryn Bond top scored for Cairns, who will play for a bronze medal on Monday, with 13 points while Adrianna Francis also was impressive with 11 points.
GOLD COAST WAVES VS MACKAY METEORETTES (U14 Division 1 Girls)
The Gold Coast Waves have a chance to win their second state championship in as many weeks after securing a spot in the Division 1 grand final with a nail-biting two-point win over the Mackay Meteorettes Sunday afternoon.
Gold Coast survived some hot shooting from Mackay, who hit five three-pointers in the match, to set up an epic grand final clash with the Force on Monday at McDonald’s Mackay Stadium.
Three players scored 11 points for the Waves in Emma Petrie, Ava Usher and Rica Chanel Enriquez-Paea to lead their team to victory.
Cheyenne Bobongie top scored for Mackay with 16 points while Mackensie Brown had 10.
