The battle for a gold medal is heating up as we head into day two of the Basketball Queensland Under-18 State Championships on the Gold Coast.

Playoff hopes could potentially be on the line as teams from all around the state progress deeper into the group stages at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre.
Games on the showcourt (hall one, court seven) at the venue will all be livestreamed in this story.
REPLAY: GOLD COAST ROLLERS, 91, DEFEAT CAIRNS MARLINS, 76 (BOYS DIV 1)
Gold Coast forward Nevarda Higgins has continued his impressive form to start the state championships, scoring 24 points to lead the Rollers to a 15-point victory over the Cairns Marlins.
The result means the Rollers remain undefeated after three games, already securing their spot in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Gold Coast had four players score in double figures with Tyler O’Neill adding 20, Jalen Blanchard scoring 18 points and Elijah Kamu also recording 17 points.
Jalen Pitman led the way for Cairns with 23 points.
REPLAY: SOUTHERN DISTRICTS SPARTANS, 78, DEFEAT CAIRNS DOLPHINS, 77 (GIRLS DIV 1)
The Southern Districts Spartans have overcome a massive challenge from the Cairns Dolphins to remain undefeated after three games with the two-point victory.
Cairns pushed the Spartans all the way with the Dolphins trio of Tayhana Bond, Andria Heard and Ashley Johnson finding their touch on the offensive end.
But Southern Districts were able to make the crucial plays when needed as Lulu Twidale led the way with 24 points followed by Alice Dart with 18 and Summah Hanson with 16.
The result means the Spartans have set up a blockbuster pool game against the Gold Coast Rollers this afternoon.
REPLAY: GOLD COAST ROLLERS, 102 DEFEAT SUNSHINE COAST RIP, 54 (GIRLS DIV 1)
The hometown team Gold Coast Rollers have continued their dominant ways, beating the Sunshine Coast Rip by 48 points to sit on top of their pool.
Gold Coast were never troubled in the match as the Rollers were able to rest most of their starters for most of the game as they ran away with the game in the first half and Rip couldn’t find their way back.
Katelyn Donovan and Jess Petrie both had 17 points while Jessica Smith had 12 and Kalysta Troman scored 10.
Ava Nason led the scoring for Rip with 19 points.
REPLAY: TOWNSVILLE FLAMES, 54, DEFEAT GOLD COAST WAVES, 45 (GIRLS DIV 1)
The Townsville Flames have recorded their first win of the tournament after a nine-point victory over the Gold Coast Waves on day two.
Following two tough losses on the first day, Townsville were motivated to get on the winner’s list and they did that despite several challenges from the Waves.
Kaitlin West led the scoring for the Flames with 18 points while Lilly-May Walker had 16.
Alice Jones was the top scorer for Gold Coast with 13.
REPLAY: CAIRNS STINGERS, 78, DEFEAT NORTHSIDE WIZARDS 2, 74 (BOYS DIV 2)
A 35-point performance from Kristian Benson has helped the Cairns Stingers towards a hardfought four-point victory over the Northside Wizards in the boys division two competition.
Benson was in red-hot form since the opening tip, making 14 field goals including one three-pointer to help fight off the Wizards.
Joaquin Tulloch (22 points) and Sammy Leone (21 points) led the way for Northside.
