Saturday tips, analysis for Group 1 racing across Australia

Here is your one stop shop for Saturday’s racing across Australia, headlined by the Group 1 SA Derby in Adelaide with strong support meetings at Hawkesbury, Caulfield and Eagle Farm.

Coco Sun.

There’s more Group 1 racing action on Saturday with the running of the $1 million time-honoured SA Derby (2500m) at Morphettville.

Jamie Kah is trying to win her first Group 1 in South Australia on filly, Coco Sun, who is backing up from running third in last week’s Australasian Oaks.

Warmonger will run a big race, as will the Kiwi horse, Antrim Coast.

The Victory Stakes and Queensland Guineas headline racing in Eagle Farm as the Brisbane Winter Carnival ramps up.

Prince Of Boom looks a great bet in the Victory Stakes, while Kirikan looks silly odds around $51 in the Guineas. His run was good last time against similar opposition.

I’m really keen on Grinzinger Belle in Race 6 at Caulfield.

Angland looks promising, but this is a big step up to open company. Grinzinger Belle was run down by Vibrant Sun last start, who went on to win last week’s Group 1 Australasian Oaks.

She’s the form to be with, and she should be favourite.

Hawkesbury is hosting the main NSW meeting, headlined by three Group 3 races, while Caulfield has a 10-race card.
