A court heard the collision occurred just before midnight.
Singh had attended a “small gathering” with friends where he had consumed beer which he believed had been spiked, although it was noted by defence lawyer David Abrey there was no evidence to support this claim.
A court heard the other driver was miraculously uninjured after the head-on collision in which his car flipped onto its roof.
Singh, on the other hand, was not so lucky, as his airbag failed to deploy and his face collided with the steering wheel, the court heard.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he returned a BAC reading of 0.227 per cent, more than four times the legal driving limit.
Singh’s licence has been suspended since then and he has been unable to work.
He was charged with high-range drink driving (UIL) and pleaded guilty.
Magistrate Clare Kelly told him it was a “wonder” he was conscious with that reading.
Singh was fined $1200 and disqualified from driving for a further eight months. A conviction was recorded.
