A court heard police received reports about 12.10am from residents of Edens Landing that a vehicle was driving erratically and had collided with parked vehicles in the street.
Tracing the licence plate provided by witnesses, police arrived at Burch’s Bethania residence a short time later, where they discovered a car which matched descriptions.
The court heard the vehicle was warm to the touch and sustained crash damage consistent with it being the car reported by Edens Landing residents.
However, when questioned by police, she denied causing the damage and said all damage had been caused in previous accidents.
She told police she had driven to McDonald’s and had consumed up to 10 wine spritzer’s earlier that day.
Burch told the court today she had been drinking because she had an argument with her manager at work and had used alcohol to “cope”.
She said she had enrolled herself in rehab to deal with her alcohol problem.
Burch disputed that she was involved in car accidents in the Edens Landing area, telling the court all the damage to her car occurred previously.
No finding was made as to whether Burch caused any damage in Edens Landing.
Burch pleaded guilty to one charge of high-range drink driving (UIL).
She was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for six months.
