Springfield’s dining scene has stepped up a notch with the opening today (Thursday, May 5) of Italian-influenced eatery D Star Restaurant.
Run by Shivani Dutta and her husband Deepak Kumar, the bar and restaurant will open on a site near the Springfield Lakes Hotel previously occupied by Fusion Bar and Grill.
Ms Dutta told Springfield News diners could expect tasty food at reasonable prices.
The menu was heavily Italian-inspired with options such as penne a la vodka and gnocchi pomodoro, plus hearty mains including chicken schnitzel and rump steak and a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Ms Dutta said they were also planning to trial a vegan menu.
Ms Dutta’s husband, a qualified chef, will run the kitchen, while she will look after service.
“Our hope is to turn this place into a warm, welcoming place for locals,” she said.
“We will do our best to provide as much comfort (as we can) to our patrons.”
Ms Dutta said the grand opening would start from 3pm today, with live music all afternoon. There was a special 15 per cent discount on all meals.
D Star Restaurant will be open seven days a week from 6.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Thursday, 6.30am to 10pm on Fridays and 7.30am to 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
