They don’t always hit the scoreboard or find themselves in the limelight, but they are week to week troopers who get the job done for their side – win, lose or draw.

UNSUNG HEROES

Savannah Hampson (Tweed Coast Northern Rivers)

A young forward, she has been a great contributor to the club and teams since under-13s.

Hampson has sustained some pretty serious injuries, including last season, but has trained tirelessly, trained hard through the off season and now is seeing the rewards.

Her dedication and commitment shines through and she is back now in the forward pack mix.

Annie Roach (Wilston Grange Div 1)

Roach is a versatile tall who gets shifted around from week to week depending on where she is needed by her team.

She can play key forward or key back, and sometimes in the ruck when the squad has injuries.

Regardless, Roach always competes hard and never complains

Alice Black (Wilston Grange Div 2)

Black is a silent assassin who just gets on with whatever job she’s given each week.

She is a super hard competitor who can play multiple positions, but is at her peak when placed in a position where she can use her divine ball skills.

Lousia Greenwood (Coorparoo)

In her second year of footy, Greenwood has embraced the transition to under-17s as a bottom age player.

She plays high half forward and rotates through the ruck as well.

Greenwood is reliable, someone who plays her role on the field and you can see a change in the game when she’s not making an impact.

Olivia Miller (Coorparoo)

Another player that has an impact on the game and at training, Miller goes about her craft in the forward line with no fuss.

She wants to learn more at training and that desire to broaden her knowledge and skills means she is impacting on the scoreboard each week for the famous Roos.

SEQ AFL’S PLAYERS TO WATCH IN SEASON 2024

Georgina Adkins and Jacie Coxhell (Maroochydore)

Adkins brings great pressure and is a strong tackler, a real unsung hero in those departments. She also brings great attack on the footy.

Coxhell is a kid who throws herself at the contest and has a big left foot kick. She is worth her weight in gold.

Renee Siganto (Morningside)

In only her second season playing footy, Siganto is quietly becoming one of our most reliable defenders in the group. She is part of a growing trend of young women feeling their way in the code – and her improvement is most satisfying.

Bree-Ann Langeveld (Tweed Coolangatta)

New to the club, Langeveld’s running ability is her weapon and has been used off the half back and wing this season where she has been a great link up player for the team.

Taleah Palmucci (Tweed Coolangatta)

Playing as a high half forward, she has become a great link up player which brings her teammates into the game, while also kicking some goals.

Danisha Hart (Southport)

Back from an ACL injury, Hall is a rock in defence for the Sharks. Her strength over the footy and her skills were hard to match.

Ella Punter (Southport)

Punter is a terrific talent who excels in all positions – ruck or forward. When she gets on the burst she opens the play up and is hard to catch.

Punter was also clean on the ground and strong in the air and overall is a dangerous opponent

Alana Bettington and co. (Sandgate)

Bettington was a player who does the tough stuff – and then some.

She is known for ferocious tackling, either in the mid field or deep in defence.

But the Hawks have other unsung girls, including Willow Beenders and Tahlia De Young. Both girls give everything filling in multiple positions during matches.

Ember Barnsdale (Victoria Point)

A stoic defender, she is solid under pressure, a real cool customer when confronting the goal sneaks from rival teams. She is someone who always gives 100 per cent and is unsung.

Aliyah Cushing (Moreton Bay)

She made a comeback over the weekend and hasn’t touched a football since September 2023. She kicked 2 goals 1 and made a huge contribution to the team.

Piper McDonald (Surfers Paradise)

McDonald is exactly the type of player every team needs. She is passionate, determined, yet with her talent she was also particularly humble. Oh, did we mention she was a great goal sneak as well? Well she is.

Lily Draper (Everton Wolves)

Lily Draper was a teammate who always puts in 100 per cent at training and also on game day. Importantly, she was also more than happy to assist with any task around the side or club if not playing.
