And then there were three. Following two fabulous finals’ clashes on Saturday, only Maroochydore, Palm Beach Currumbin and Broadbeach remain fighting for the premiership.

The Roos go straight through to the decider after edging out PBC by just three points, while the Cats eliminated a forever trying Wilston Grange 9.15-69 to 7.6-48.

Well done Gorillas and coach Darren Fazldeen. It was a great run this season.

Highlighting the depth of the competition, we also name a Non-finals Team of the Season featuring kids like Flynn Sipple (Surfers Paradise) and Jake Selvery (Surfers Paradise), both of whom would have made the top side, and others like Jarrod Green (Mt Gravatt), Alex Peacock (Sherwood), Zane Pearce (Morningside) and Raphael Geesu (Redland-Victoria Point).

Peacock was absolutely sensational for the Magpies this season.

One of the first players picked in our finals Team of the Season was PBC SHS’s Nelson Beikoff-Smart, the Gold Coast Suns academy player Queensland under 17s player whom we name on the wing.

The full forward, of course, is his teammate, Luke Cahill (PBC) despite his season being disrupted by a broken collar bone.

Three other PBC players, Charlie Elliott, Tai Hayes (interchange) and captain Luca Laverde, were automatic selections. Luca Laverde was named our captain.

One of the most pleasmg selections in the actual 18 was Sherwood’s Alex Peacock.

A wingman, Peacock has been a young gun sensation who was dynamic on the wing - while also scoring a couple of goals a match. He will be eligible for colts again next season.

Aspley Hornets were rewarded for its excellent season with Ben Dempsey, Frankie Quinn, Judah Crocker, Ethan Myers, Campbell Harrop and Tom Bradley recognised.

In our non-finals Team of the Season, an interesting inclusion on the interchange was Mt Gravatt’s fast finishing Charlie Corrigan, a midfielder who came in late but made a huge impression.

Ruckman for the non-finals team deservedly goes to Noosa’s Paddy Monk for his ruck work and marking around the ground which had improved significantly. He also played a couple of senior games.

His teammates, key position player Billy Bowes and Kooper Bamback, also make the side.

Bowes is a brilliant intercept marker, while Bamback is a small forward who ended up in the seniors. He plays much taller than his height, is a good over head marker and rarely misses a shot on goal.

At the other end of SEQ, Labrador’s Mason Field, the Gold Coast Suns academy player who runs all day long in both directions, was recognised along with Leo Johnston who rarely lost a contest.

The first two players chosen in the non-finals side were Surfers Paradise pair Jack Selvey and Flynn Sipple.

Selvey is a mid field gun while Sipple is dynamic, capable of playing forward, on ball and even ruck.

A player we look forward to seeing again next season is Morningside’s Zane Pearce, an under 17 player who generated votes in nearly every game.
