Fittest, fastest, underrated … and loud mouths.
QAFL and QAFLW coaches have had their say on anything and everything across 2023.
Aspley livewire Will Peppin was nominated by coach Daniel Webster as the fittest and fastest on his team’s roster.
Meanwhile Labrador mentor Clint Watts, when asked about most exciting prospect, hailed Matt Hoy as “only 15-years-old but is competing extremely well with the senior group”.
When it came to each team’s X-factor talents, Maroochydore’s Dave Hume couldn’t go past Renee Teys, who provides plenty of team structure, flair and go-forward for the Roos as a quality centre halfback.
On a lighter note Surfers Paradise coach Matt Lappin cheekily nominated Tom Smith as the biggest loud mouth in his side.
“He’s our loudest for sure. Everyone in the crowd can hear him and sometimes it’s positive but sometimes he’s challenging his teammates which is okay as long as it‘s accepted the right way,” he said.
Coorparoo’s Ayla Fraser was dubbed the most under-rated player in her team: “She just flies under the radar, no one ever talks about her but she does her job every game.”
