REPLAYS AND MATCH REPORTS
PARK RIDGE SHS V MOUNTAIN CREEK SHS (GIRLS)
Mountain Creek SHS senior girls rose above Park Ridge SHS 8-6-54 to 2-1-13.
Park Ridge never gave up, but the class of Mountain Creek SHS was evident in the second half.
Coach Peter Bock liked the way his side connected.
“It was a bit of a slow start but then the girls really communicated well,’’ he said, noting he had players from year 12 down to year 10 that had not played a lot together.
“We also had a few injuries, so it was a real team performance. We sort of ran and backed ourselves.’’
PALM BEACH CURRUMBIN V NARANGBA VALLEY (GIRLS)
Palm Beach Currumbin SHS coach Jarrod Wells has praised his girls after a 10-0-60 to 1-1-7 win over Narangba Valley SHS.
Wells had high praise for his opponents, saying they inflicted pressure early and challenged PBC.
But he was delighted with the way PBC rebounded.
“Our girls were able to absorb it and stick to what we want to to,’’ Wells said.
“And the result looked after itself in the end.
“Anothe thing we did really well was when we won the balll in close, we had runners on the outside.’’
HELENSVALE SHS V NARANGBA VALLEY SHS
Helensvale SHS were on a collision course to play old rivals PBC SHS after beating Narangba Valley SHS in senior boys this afternoon.
Helensvale won 10-0-60 to 2-1-13 in a performance which thrilled coach Matt Dwyer.
“It was a really good team performance. We did not get selfish, we just stuck to our structures and team play,’’ Dwyer said.
But Dwyer was also thrilled with the way his side carried themselves around the field.
“We were humble but hard to play against which is probably what it is all about.
“When you are in front it can be hard not to do silly things, but they stuck to their structures and were always respectful.’’
Mountain Creek SHS v Palm Beach Currumbin SHS
Mountain Creek SHS coach Peter Bock said his side was learning from playing against the best after being defeated by PBC in senior male action late today.”Palm Beach are the benchmark and they had more than eight players in the under 16 state team, so they are a very good team,’’ Mountain Creek SHS coach Bock said.”I think we are closing the gap. It was a tough first half and we maintained that margin, so there is a lot to take away in that we were able to get back on terms with them in the second half.”We have six year 12s, so we were a bit out-sized but we know we will be better for the experience and here for a couple of more years.’’
