BBC will host Brisbane State High School in the season opener this weekend, with Williamson looking forward to his side being “well organised and structured in our play’’.

But he wanted his side to also have a “willingness to exert ourselves on a game’’.

Williamson will be working with a largely new side in 2020.

“The 2020 1st XI are a new team looking to build for the future with a sprinkling of players who have experienced 1st XI football previously,’’ he said.

Asked about his expectations, Williamson said: “The 1st XI will build a solid foundation to move forward for the coming years. I think they will be a solid side which is well structured and be competitive.’’

The side will be captained by Corban Burrowes (captain) and Rafael Hersey (vice-captain), with Jack Warshawsky an exciting player to watch.

Brisbane State High School, BBC’s opponents on Saturday, will be captained by Kosei Stephenson and spearheaded by Johnie Saridakis, Jess Toscano, Arlo McGuffin

BSHS coach Dan Barber said the side planned to offer “high intensity pressuring the opponents in all areas of the pitch’’.

“A large portion of the team has experienced First XI Football,’’ Barber said.

“State High prides itself on introducing younger players into the squad as a way of developing the culture within the program.

“First XI exposure provides an opportunity to introduce the younger members of the squad to GPS Football.’’

He said his aim was to see a consistent season with all players developing their skills “that align to the team goals’’.
